Overview

The Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery Fellowship at Shriners Hospitals for Children – Northern California and UC Davis Children’s Hospital offers an in-depth, hands-on exposure to all aspects of pediatric orthopaedics across both high-volume centers.  The fellow closely mentored by eleven pediatric orthopaedic surgery staff.  A flexible schedule allows for dividing time between complex elective pediatric orthopaedics and spine surgery at Shriners Hospital, and elective and urgent pediatric orthopaedics at UC Davis and its Level I Trauma Center.

  • Upper extremity & brachial plexus birth palsy

In-depth instruction in the Shriners Hospital Motion Analysis Lab and participation in weekly didactic conferences adds to the experience. The fellows participate in the education of orthopaedic surgery residents and contribute to active clinical and basic science research projects. The fellowship program will impart life-long enthusiasm for learning, practicing, and teaching pediatric orthopaedics and prepares the fellow for a career in academic pediatric orthopaedics.

Fellowship Applications

The Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery Fellowship at Shriners Hospitals for Children – Northern California and UC Davis Children’s Hospital accepts one fellow per year through the SF Match, and is 12 months in duration, beginning August 1 and ending July 31.  Compensation is commensurate with a PGY-6 salary with excellent benefits. Upon acceptance to the fellowship through the SF Match, our fellowship coordinator will guide future fellows through the process of obtaining a California medical license and a California Fluoroscopy Supervisor and Operator Permit prior to the start of the fellowship year.
